Since my last DIY blog was so popular, I figured I would share another one…just in time for the holidays!
In the summer of 2012, Erik and I went to San Francisco and Napa Valley. It was an amazing vacation. I would definitely recommend a trip to wine country, if you love wine…of course.
Erik and I try to pick up an ornament in our travels. We think it’s fun to put them on the Christmas tree and think about when we got them. We easily found a trolley ornament in San Fran…but finding a wine ornament we liked in Napa was a little harder.
I told myself I would make one with the wine corks I saved. I never did…until last night!
This DIY would be a great gift for a friend or family member who loves wine…or make one for yourself. ‘Tis the season!
Wine Cork Christmas Tree
What you need:
Wine corks
Hot glue gun
Ribbon
Instructions:
1. Select the wine corks you want to use. I used ones that I had collected in Napa from our favorite wineries (Beringer and Castello di Amorosa).
2. Arrange the corks in the pattern and size you want.
3. Cut one of the corks in half to use as the stump.
4. Hot clue the corks together.
5. Tie the ribbon around the cork tree, creating a bow at the top. Make sure to use extra ribbon so you can tie two bows. One at the top of the cork tree and another to create the hole to hang on your Christmas tree.
Happy DIY-ing!
